I absolutely love this campground. Gorgeous site, well maintained park, super friendly DNR people and camp hosts. The shower house was well stocked with hot water and good water pressure. When you come make sure to bring your bike for the Old Abe Trail and bring or rent a kayak to enjoy the water. It is so quiet and restful at this place.
What a beautiful and relaxing location. Perfect campground for unwinding and recharging. Very quiet, no frills campground. Campsites are simple with only a fire pit, table and mostly dirt. Most border either a calm “lake” or the river. Great for families with easy access to Cornell and the Old Abe bike trail. Wonderful opportunity for kayak rental through the Friends group from the park office.
We LOVE Brunet Island. This gorgeous place will forever have our heart. We love the different terrain here… deciduous forest, coniferous forest, water, etc. 🌲🌳🌿🌊It’s so beautiful and peaceful. We camp in the north loop several times a season as it’s one of our favorite campgrounds. 🏕 There are no amenities (we don’t need any!) although wood is available. The pit toilets are clean and water access is easy. Plenty of sites have privacy and shade. It’s a pretty quiet campground although we did have one negative experience last summer with a group of people partying all night. Fishing and hiking are our favorite activities here. 🎣 🥾 We love this place so much that we got married here a couple of years ago. 💍 It was the perfect backdrop for these nature lovers! ♥️♥️
Great little park for camping and fishing, this park isn't the largest in the world but it has a lot of areas near water and access points as well as lots of nooks and cranys for someone with a kayak or canoe to check out as well as numerous places to picnic and a area for larger events and a swim beach and a area for the kids. Also they have a few hiking trails to check out one of which I tried out that was 3/4 of a mile and was a pretty easy walk with the bridge being the hardest part of the walk.
One of the cleanest campgrounds I've been to. Everyone was kind, the views were incredible! The woman in the office was extremely helpful. Had great paths for little hikes as well. Restrooms in the north part of the campground were your typical pit toilets, but well kept. Mostly dog friendly aside from beach and picnic areas. There were plenty of spots for the pups to take a dip though.
Beautiful park can't believe I've never been here. Love the big campsites almost thinking about getting a non electric site next time, kayak right from your site. Has the river to kayak on, bike trail, fishing, boat launch, beach and Ice age trail
Very nice park. Camp site are not very private but still very nice. We will likely be back just to visit.
This park is an amazing Wisconsin gem! The campground is absolutely wonderful. All the sites are very clean and give a good amount of space. You really can't go wrong in the North loop (non electric sites) but almost every site is on the water, or in the South loop (electric) with nice walking paths and close proximity to showers/bathrooms. Awesome place for kayaking/canoeing with low current rivers and so many areas to explore. Plenty of wildlife to watch and hear at night (brave little chipmunks ate everywhere). Trails for hiking and biking are also fantastic. Highly recommend a visit or stay here!
